1. Street Market Stroll
This year for Valentine’s Day, I took my boyfriend to Seattle for a romantic weekend for two. My travel agent called me with info about a great vacation package that included airline tickets and two nights in a premiere hotel.
Seattle is a great city for a romantic weekend. Most of the things that would interest visitors are downtown within walking distance of the hotel, so there’s no need to hassle with car rentals. We spent the weekend strolling through the Pike’s Street Market hand-in-hand and doing some terrific big-city shopping downtown.
When he asked why I would give him such an extravagant gift, I told him the truth. I simply wanted to spend a whole weekend with him with no interruptions from the phone or friends and family just dropping in without warning.
To me, it was a small price to pay for some “us” time. It was also a turning point in our relationship, and we are now shopping for our first home together. The wedding is set for next summer!

2. Lover’s Lane
I was with my girlfriend and on the spur of the moment we decided to go out. We drove a little ways into the country and parked on the side of the road. We sat in the back of my car wrapped in a blanket and shared our most intimates thoughts and feelings while looking at the stars and the moon. It was very romantic! When we got home, we both felt really wonderful.

3. A Horseback Ride and Picnic
My boyfriend and I had only been together for a few months, but we both knew that there was a great spark between us. I wanted to do something special for him that would be unforgettable.
So, I kidnapped my boyfriend on his birthday and took him on a horseback ride through the mountains at sunset. It could not have been more amazing and romantic! After the horseback ride, I blindfolded him and led him to the Italian picnic I’d had my friends set up for us.
There were candles and flowers around the blanket, and the meal included a bottle of wine and chocolate-covered strawberries for dessert. Everything went perfectly, and it turned out to be the best birthday ever!

4. Take a Boat Ride
On their one year anniversary, my friend’s boyfriend picked her up in a limo and drove her around the city before taking her to a pier and onto a yacht he’d rented. The crew served them a four-course dinner with the NYC skyline as the backdrop.
She told me that it was the most romantic thing anyone had ever done for her. She was, quite literally, floating.

5. Climb a Tree
We have a state park near where we live that’s full of big trees. On nice days, it’s always fun to go up and sit in the branches of a big, old tree and watch the sun set below the cliffs together.
